ثُمَّ بَدَّلۡـنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الۡحَسَنَةَ حَتّٰى عَفَوْا وَّقَالُوۡا قَدۡ مَسَّ اٰبَآءَنَا الضَّرَّآءُ وَالسَّرَّآءُ فَاَخَذۡنٰهُمۡ بَغۡتَةً وَّهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُوۡنَ
We then changed (their) misfortune with good fortune till they made (an all-embracing) progress. But (out of ingratitude) they said: ‘Our ancestors too have been living through pain and pleasure (the same way).’ So We caught them unawares on this ingratitude and they did not even notice (it).
